Bishop Choby"My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
The events of this week in Haiti have shocked the world and us here in the Diocese of Nashville. We have a double reason for our sadness and sorrow. Father Edwige Carré, pastor of Holy Name parish in Nashville, a priest of the Archdiocese of Port-au-Prince, lost his brother and three other family members, as well as his own Archbishop. Also many parishes there are twinned with parishes of our diocese, and there are deep bonds of affection and concern that are naturally shared."

Haiti MapFather Keith Louidor, the pastor of our sister parish in Le Borgne, Haiti sends us this e-mail:

Thank you for your concern. I hope that you had a good trip home [Rena Burns' return home the day before the earthquake]. Le Borgne was not directly touched. We felt tremors but not too much damage. Indirectly we were affected because there are numerous families who cry for their relatives in Port-au-Prince.

Our E-business directory partner, IQonnect has just lowered their monthly pricing to advertise to to Parishioners your business to $4.95 or $49.00 per year. Previously the cost was $9.95 a month or $99.00 per year. This is an opportunity to advertise to a warm audience of St. Philip Parishioners and let them know what your business is. Typically, Parishioners would prefer to do business with people they know and this is a way to support your fellow parishioners during these difficult economic time.

The photo Directories are scheduled to be here on January 19th. The book was delayed for two specific reasons. We extended photo dates into September and had an additional 214 families get their pictures taken. This was worth the delay, and at that time it looked as if the books would be here at the beginning of December. However, when Father John left the Church in October, we had to do some major revisions that delayed the release, and was unforeseeable. That said, the proofs look great, and we believe you will be proud of the end result.

As we get closer to the date, we will announce how the books will be distributed. The books are only for Parishioners who had their pictures made. We still have plenty of the guide books and Directories issued in August and they are for anyone in he Church. Please see anyone in the office for your personal copy of the Guide book and Directory. But the Photo Directory is reserved only for the families who had pictures made.
