Newcomers Christmas Social - Friday, December 4th

If you are new to the parish within the last year, you are invited to a Christmas Social to meet other newcomers. This event is sponsored by the Newcomers Ministry. Deli-meats, beer and wine will be provided. Bring an appropriate dish or Christmas desert to share. Babysitting will be provided.

St Philip's Culture of Life Pilgrimage, Washington, D.C. - January 20-24, 2010

Don’t miss an opportunity to march in the annual March for Life, attend Mass at the National Shrine, pray at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land, St. Matthew’s Cathedral, and convent of the Poor Clares. We will also pray at the Metro DC Planned Parenthood and make visits to the War Memorials, Lincoln Memorial, Smithsonian Museums and the National Holocaust Museum.

Bishop's Appeal Held December 6 at St Philip Catholic Church

The renewal of our Bishop's annual appeal commitment will be held the weekend of December 6. We will be asked to give consideration to making a return to God for all of His gift and blessings. Remembert that in 2010 in addiion to other worthy diocesean pastoral services and ministries, a major portion of the funds from the appeal will go toward the formation of our growing number of seminarians.

St. Philip and Catholic Charities are offering counseling services at St. Philip on a weekly basis on Wednesdays. Catholic Charities offers individual, couple, and family counseling on a sliding fee scale.

Original 1871 Church Update

During the course of floor repair in the Old Church we discovered we need to replace the support structure. At this time we are looking at what will need to be done. We know we will be in need of sub-contractors. We want to give our qualified parishioners the opportunity to participate in this work.

We are looking for contractors to do lumber framing, foundation (concrete footings and masonry piers) and flooring (with experience in historic restoration and use of reclaimed wood).

If you are interested, please contact Joe Braden with American Constructors at 615-329-0123 by Monday, Nov. 16, 2009. You must be properly licensed & have general liability insurance & workers compensation insurance, per State of Tennessee requirements.

Catholic Studies in Truth: Pope John Paul’s Theology of the Body

Parking Lot Maintenance - This Weekend

There will be some maintenance work (striping and/or sealing) done to the parking located behind the CCD building and office areas, by the Crye Lieke building between Second and First Avenue.

Please make sure all vehicles including trailers are removed from the lot by Saturday evening.
