CCD Update
Safe@Last and BE
As part of the Diocese Safe Environment program, the Safe@Last Personal Safety Program was added to our curriculum in during the 2005-2006 program year. Materials for grades 7-12 have recently been added. The materials we use were developed through a collaborative effort between the Diocesan Superintendent of Catholic Schools and the Sexual Assault Center in Nashville. The program focuses on assisting children in learning how to be safe.
Each session builds on and reinforces the skills learned in at the previous lesson. The children are given opportunities to practice each learned skill. Training also includes techniques such as role playing, music, puppets, games, stories, workbook activities and videos.
We have a group of trained volunteers who are presenting the child safety education program to our Kindergarten through sixth grade students and our Director of Youth Ministry, Matt Gill will present the middle school and high school training, beginning in mid-January.
Our presenters for these sessions are:
Heidi Triggs—Grades K & 1
Pam Beall—Grade 2
Desiree Appleby—Grade
3 Nancy Jordan—Grade 4
Megan Horrar—Grade 5
Tracy Auerbach—Grade 6
Matt Gill—Grades 7-12
Parents are invited to attend.
