Important Tips
(Provided by GraceWorks Ministries)
  • Volunteers: Please bring gloves, masks and sanitizers when you go. Wheelbarrows, brooms and dust pans will also help.

  • Please note that If the debris is not separated, it will not be collected.

  • While all dry wall is taken down, don't forget to also remove the fireplace. There is ruined insulation behind as well.

  • Regarding FEMA. Besides registering (FEMA.gov), make sure to take lots of pictures of the damage AND rebuilding process. Document everything and keep all receipts. FEMA will require lots of proof later when they have programs offered.

  • Many had asked how one would know it is ready to put up dry wall. There is a moisture meter used by professionals. I was suggested that pictures can be taken with the meter operating right next to the studs, etc. for proof in later days. www.moldcareer.com/store/1/38/.

  • During the rebuilding process, homeowners need to take lots of pictures including after the dry wall, insulation and debris are removed. This will show that the repair was done thoroughly which will help in the future if the homeowners are to put the houses on the market for resale.
